Every code here was entered at a real checkout before it was listed, and the discount recorded is the one the checkout actually applied — not the one the promotion advertised. We re-check the list on a rolling basis and remove anything that stops working, which is why a store you saw last week may have fewer codes today rather than more. Where a code carries a condition that decides whether it is any use to you — a minimum spend, a first-order restriction, a single storefront — that condition is part of the listing rather than fine print underneath it.
Expiry dates are the least common reason a code dies. Most promotions are capped by redemption count, so a code circulated widely burns out days before its stated end date. Others are pulled early when the promotion outruns its budget, quietly narrowed to fewer categories mid-flight, or bound to an account segment you are not in. A code can also be live and still do nothing for you: if your basket is entirely excluded stock, the checkout accepts the code and applies zero.
This is the trade-off worth understanding before you spend time hunting a code. Returned, open-box, and clearance items are already sold below the new price, and retailers almost always exclude them from sitewide percentage-off promotions for exactly that reason. The useful comparison is not code versus no code but the open-box price against the new price after the code. On heavily discounted used stock the open-box price usually wins outright; on a small percentage-off code against a lightly used item, it often does not.
Because every code on it was checked by hand. Sites that list hundreds of codes per store are generating them, not verifying them, and the hit rate on those lists is close to zero. A short list where most codes work is worth more of your time than a long one where almost none do.
Usually not, and often you cannot use one. Clearance, open-box, and warehouse stock is normally excluded from sitewide promotions, because the retailer has already taken the margin hit once. Check the open-box price first — if it beats the new price minus the code, the code is irrelevant.
Most checkouts accept a single promotional code per order. The common exception is a code plus a separate mechanism — a clipped coupon on the listing, a store credit, or a card-linked offer — because those are applied at different stages. If a second code silently replaces the first, the discount is not stacking.
Not necessarily. Before writing it off, check the four things that reject a live code: a minimum order value you have not met, a category or brand exclusion, an account-level restriction such as new customers only, and a regional storefront mismatch. Codes are also frequently capped at a total number of redemptions rather than a date.
Retailer terms change without notice. Treat the above as what to check rather than as a guarantee, and confirm the current terms on the retailer's own page before you rely on them.
