How Costco discounts stack
Costco does not really do stacking, and understanding that saves a lot of wasted effort. The warehouse price is the price, and instant savings are applied at the register rather than entered as a code. On Costco.com, promotional pricing shows in the item price rather than at checkout, so there is no box to paste anything into on most orders. The one real layer you can add is the card you pay with — a cash-back card and the Costco Executive membership reward run independently of the item price and are the only compounding you get. Executive membership pays back a percentage of annual spend, which functions as a flat discount for high-volume shoppers and as nothing much for anyone else.
What Costco codes don't cover
Membership is a hard requirement for almost everything, so an offer open to non-members is the exception rather than the norm. Instant savings do not apply to items already marked with a clearance price ending in the store-specific markdown digits, and they generally exclude tobacco, alcohol where regulated, gift cards, and third-party service bookings such as travel and optical. Manufacturer coupons from outside Costco are not accepted, which surprises people coming from conventional supermarkets. Prescription and pharmacy items sit under separate rules again and are outside the instant-savings system entirely.
When Costco actually discounts
Costco publishes a monthly instant-savings book, and its cadence is the most predictable of any large retailer — the same categories return in roughly the same months each year, which means you can plan a large purchase around it rather than react to it. Televisions and computing peak around November, patio and outdoor around April and May, and small appliances around the January and August books. Costco also runs a genuine extended-warranty and return policy on electronics, adding coverage beyond the manufacturer term, which is worth more in real money than most competitors' discounts on the same item.
Sitewide or per-listing?
Costco is a warehouse club, not a coupon retailer, so there is no sitewide code system to hunt for. Anything presented online as a "Costco promo code" is almost always either a membership-signup offer, a third-party service referral, or fabricated outright — this is one of the most heavily spoofed retailers in the coupon space, and sites publishing dozens of Costco codes are publishing fiction. Is a code the best discount at Costco?
